- They don't know how to maximize their gold earned per hour.

To properly grind for gold in WoW you've got to prepare, prepare, prepare!
- Always know what you're hunting ahead of time - if you don't know what you're going to be hunting, then you don't know how you can maximize your gold earned per hour. Pick a target - anything dropped item will do - and stick with it. You're going to be selling that item on the auction house in full stacks.
- Maximize your gold earned per hour - there are a lot of things you can do to increase your gold earned per hour, but the biggest thing to do is to minimize downtime: the less time you spend dead, or doing something else, the more time you can spend making gold.
- Don't get burned out - burn out happens from doing a single task over and over again. when you're grinding gold make sure you take frequent breaks: either open another application, play another game, or do something else completely. You don't want to get so bored that you're tempted to never grind again.
