Top 5 WoW Skinning Tips

Skinning in World of Warcraft is a great gold-generating skill as you can skin just about any beast in the game, and stacks of skins all sell several times higher at the auction house than at local merchants. Here are the top 5 WoW skinning tips you need to keep in mind the next time you step into the game:

Skin while leveling. The easiest way to level your skinning skill is to keep leveling it while you level. Grinding against goretusk's for both skinning and levels isn't the fastest way to do things, but it will keep you from the nightmare scenario of being level 70 with an underleveled skinning skill. Plus, you'll manage to keep your supply of gold relatively high as you stock up on leather and hides.

Always have your knife on you. It's easy to fall into a lull and just store your skinning knife for a while, but when you don't have your knife you can't skin beast - and you never know when you're going to run across a couple of skinnable corpses. Also, any low level critters you run across - such as sheep - can be killed and skinned in a matter of seconds.

Grinding is easy in fast-spawn spots. There are a few spots in the game that I like to refer to as "fast-spawn" spots. In one of these spots you can kill a beast, such as a goretusk, and another beast will spawn immediately after its death. Generally you can find one such spot in every part of World of Warcraft.

Auction stacks, sell smaller quantities. If you've got a few stacks of leather, but only one or two hides, then there really isn't much sense in auctioning off the hides - once you combine the final selling price with the auction house's percentage, you're going to end up getting less gold than if you had outright sold it to a merchant. On the other hand, if you have a stack of leather, which can sometimes go for as high as 20 gold, why on earth would you sell it to a merchant for only a few silver coins?

Skin that corpse. There are millions of players in World of Warcraft, and only a few of them use the skinning skill, that means there are going to be a lot of skinnable corpses for you to take advantage of. Don't feel bad about stealing another person's skin, though as Warcraft gives players an ample amount of time to loot and skin their own kills. If you're able to skin it, chances are the person who killed it doesn't care to skin the corpse.

Skinning is a great skill to have, especially when you know how to use it and keep it leveled up. As a general rule f thumb: the more you use skinning, the more gold you can earn.
